The Genesis GV70 has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Q3 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the GV70 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The GV70’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The Q3’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Genesis GV70 achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Audi Q3 has not been tested.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GV70 Advanced/Prestige has a standard Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Q3 doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the GV70 and the Q3 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Genesis GV70 has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2026 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test, and an “Acceptable” score in the revised vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention test. The Q3 has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2026.

The GV70 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Q3’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the GV70 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Audi covers the Q3. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Q3 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 86 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is rated below average.

Power ranks Genesis higher than Audi.

The GV70’s standard 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder produces 45 more horsepower (300 vs. 255) and 38 lbs.-ft. more torque (311 vs. 273) than the Q3’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The GV70’s optional 3.5 turbo V6 produces 120 more horsepower (375 vs. 255) and 118 lbs.-ft. more torque (391 vs. 273) than the Q3’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

The GV70 has a gallon more fuel capacity than the Q3 (17.4 vs. 16.4 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Genesis GV70, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the Q3.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the GV70 is 2.4 inches wider in the front and 3.5 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Q3.

For better maneuverability, the GV70’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the Q3’s (37.7 feet vs. 38.7 feet).

The design of the Genesis GV70 amounts to more than styling. The GV70 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .32 Cd. That is lower than the Q3 (.35) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the GV70 get better fuel mileage.

The GV70 has 19.6 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Q3 (103.6 vs. 84).

The GV70 has 1.5 inches more front headroom, 1.3 inches more front legroom, 2.4 inches more front shoulder room, 1.5 inches more rear headroom, 1.1 inches more rear legroom and 1.8 inches more rear shoulder room than the Q3.

The engine in the GV70 is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the Q3. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the GV70 has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Q3 only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the GV70 has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Q3 doesn’t offer cornering lights.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the GV70 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Q3 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Both the GV70 and the Q3 have standard heated front seats. The GV70 3.5T Prestige also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Q3.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the GV70 Advanced/Prestige keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Q3 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The GV70 Sport Prestige/3.5T has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Q3.

With standard voice command, the GV70 offers the driver hands free control of the radio, climate controls and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The Q3 doesn’t offer a voice control system.

Compared to traditional radio, the Genesis GV70’s standard SiriusXM satellite radio provides an unmatched listening experience. Its extensive coverage guarantees consistent, crystal-clear reception across the continental U.S., and access to over 100 channels dedicated to a multitude of genres, including music, news, sports, talk shows, and comedy, many with only limited commercial breaks. Satellite radio costs extra on the Q3.

The GV70 Prestige/3.5T has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Q3 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The GV70 was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2025 and 2 more times in the last 4 years. The Q3 has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.
