For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Genesis GV70 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Porsche Cayenne doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the GV70 are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Cayenne doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The GV70 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Cayenne doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the GV70 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The GV70’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The Cayenne’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Genesis GV70 achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Porsche Cayenne has not been tested.

Both the GV70 and the Cayenne have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Genesis GV70 has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2026 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test, and an “Acceptable” score in the revised vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention test. The Cayenne has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2026.

The GV70 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Cayenne’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the GV70 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Porsche covers the Cayenne. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Cayenne ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the GV70 for 2 years and 26000 miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the Cayenne (3/36,000 vs. 1/10,000).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Porsche vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 5 more problems per 100 vehicles, Porsche is rated lower.

As tested in Car and Driver the Genesis GV70 turbo V6 is faster than the Porsche Cayenne turbo V6:

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Genesis GV70 higher (4 out of 10) than the Porsche Cayenne (2 to 4). This means the GV70 produces up to 15.6 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Cayenne every 15,000 miles.

For better maneuverability, the GV70’s turning circle is 2 feet tighter than the Cayenne’s (37.7 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

The Genesis GV70 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 to 1100 pounds less than the Porsche Cayenne.

The GV70 is 8.5 inches shorter than the Cayenne, making the GV70 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the GV70 Advanced is quieter than the Cayenne GTS:

The GV70 has .6 inches more front headroom, .2 inches more front legroom, .1 inches more rear headroom and .4 inches more rear shoulder room than the Cayenne.

The GV70 has a much larger cargo volume than the Cayenne with its rear seat up (28.9 vs. 27.3 cubic feet).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the GV70 easier. The GV70’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 29.9 inches, while the Cayenne’s liftover is 31 inches.

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the GV70’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Cayenne doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

On a hot day the GV70’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Cayenne can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The GV70’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Cayenne’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the GV70 has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Cayenne only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GV70 has standard extendable sun visors. The Cayenne doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The GV70 Prestige/3.5T has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Cayenne doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The GV70 was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2025 and 2 more times in the last 4 years. The Cayenne has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.
