Both the G70 and the A5 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

The G70 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The A5’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the G70 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Audi covers the A5. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the A5 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the G70 second among compact premium cars in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The A5 isn’t in the top three in its category.

The G70 2.5T’s standard 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder produces 32 more horsepower (300 vs. 268) and 16 lbs.-ft. more torque (311 vs. 295) than the A5’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The G70 3.3T’s standard 3.3 turbo V6 produces 97 more horsepower (365 vs. 268) and 81 lbs.-ft. more torque (376 vs. 295) than the A5’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

As tested in Motor Trend the G70 3.3T 3.3 turbo V6 is faster than the Audi A5:

The G70 has a gallon more fuel capacity than the A5 (15.8 vs. 14.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Genesis G70, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the A5.

For better traction and acceleration, the G70 has larger rear tires than the A5 (255/35R19 vs. 235/45R18). The G70’s rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the A5 (255/35R19 vs. 245/40R19).

The G70’s 225/40R19 front and 255/35R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the A5’s standard 45 series tires. The G70’s tires are lower profile than the A5’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the G70 has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the A5.

The G70 has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the A5; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

The G70’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the A5’s (56% to 44%). This gives the G70 more stable handling and braking.

The G70 handles at .94 G’s, while the A5 pulls only .84 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The G70 executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.5 seconds quicker than the A5 (24.9 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 26.4 seconds @ .69 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the G70’s turning circle is 3.4 feet tighter than the A5’s (36.3 feet vs. 39.7 feet). The G70 AWD’s turning circle is 2 feet tighter than the A5’s (37.7 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

The Genesis G70 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 50 to 400 pounds less than the Audi A5.

The G70 is 5.7 inches shorter than the A5, making the G70 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Genesis G70 amounts to more than styling. The G70 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .29 Cd. That is lower than the A5 (.31) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the G70 get better fuel mileage.

The front grille of the G70 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The A5 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The G70 has 1.3 inches more front legroom and 1.5 inches more rear headroom than the A5.

The A5’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The G70 3.3T Elite/Prestige/Sport’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The G70 is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The A5 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
