The Electrified GV70’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Optiq doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the Electrified GV70 and Optiq have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Electrified GV70 has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Optiq’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the Electrified GV70 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The Electrified GV70’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The Optiq’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Genesis Electrified GV70 achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Cadillac Optiq has not been tested.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Electrified GV70. But it costs extra on the Optiq.

Both the Electrified GV70 and the Optiq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2026 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test, and an “Acceptable” score in the revised vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention test. The Optiq has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2026.

The Electrified GV70 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Optiq’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the Electrified GV70 4 years and 30,000 miles longer than Cadillac covers the Optiq. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Optiq ends after only 6 years or 70,000 miles.

The Electrified GV70’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Optiq’s (7 vs. 6 years).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the Electrified GV70 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Optiq.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 17 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is rated below average.

The Electrified GV70’s electric motors produces 168 more horsepower (483 vs. 315) and 184 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 332) than the Optiq’s standard electric motor. The Electrified GV70’s electric motors produces 43 more horsepower (483 vs. 440) and 18 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 498) than the Optiq’s optional electric motors.

As tested in Motor Trend the Genesis Electrified GV70 is faster than the Cadillac Optiq electric motors:

The Electrified GV70 can travel longer on a full charge than the Optiq-V 19 kW Charger (263 miles vs. 250 miles).

The Electrified GV70 has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Optiq doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

The Electrified GV70’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Optiq doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the Electrified GV70’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the Optiq:

The Electrified GV70’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the Optiq’s (52% to 48%). This gives the Electrified GV70 more stable handling and braking.

The Electrified GV70 Prestige handles at .83 G’s, while the Optiq Sport AWD pulls only .78 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Electrified GV70 Prestige executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.1 seconds quicker than the Optiq Sport AWD (26.3 seconds @ .74 average G’s vs. 27.4 seconds @ .64 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Electrified GV70’s turning circle is 2 feet tighter than the Optiq’s (37.8 feet vs. 39.8 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Electrified GV70 has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Optiq (6.9 vs. 6 inches), allowing the Electrified GV70 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Electrified GV70 is 4.2 inches shorter than the Optiq, making the Electrified GV70 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Electrified GV70 Prestige uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Optiq doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Electrified GV70 has 1.1 inches more front hip room, 2.1 inches more front shoulder room, 2.5 inches more rear hip room and .9 inches more rear shoulder room than the Optiq.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Electrified GV70’s rear seats recline. The Optiq’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Electrified GV70 has a much larger cargo volume than the Optiq with its rear seat up (28.7 vs. 26 cubic feet).

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the Electrified GV70. The Optiq doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The Electrified GV70’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Optiq’s (3500 vs. 1500 pounds).

While the Optiq V-Series is not recommended to tow, any Electrified GV70 can tow a minimum of 3500 pounds.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Electrified GV70 has a standard rear wiper. The Optiq doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Optiq Premium/V-Series’ cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Electrified GV70’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Electrified GV70 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Optiq doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The GV70 was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2025 and 2 more times in the last 4 years. The Optiq has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.

Motor Trend selected the Electrified GV70 as their 2022 Sport Utility of the Year. The Optiq has never been chosen.

The Genesis GV70 outsold the Cadillac Optiq by almost three to one during 2025.
