Safety

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Genesis Electrified GV70 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Cadillac Escalade IQ doesn’t offer pretensioners for its second-row seat belts.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the Electrified GV70 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The Electrified GV70’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The Escalade IQ’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

The Electrified GV70 has standard Anti-whiplash Front Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Anti-whiplash Front Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Escalade IQ doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Genesis Electrified GV70 achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Cadillac Escalade IQ has not been tested.

Both the Electrified GV70 and the Escalade IQ have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2026 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test, and an “Acceptable” score in the revised vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention test. The Escalade IQ has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2026.

Warranty

The Electrified GV70 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Escalade IQ’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the Electrified GV70 4 years and 30,000 miles longer than Cadillac covers the Escalade IQ. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Escalade IQ ends after only 6 years or 70,000 miles.

The Electrified GV70’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Escalade IQ’s (7 vs. 6 years).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the Electrified GV70 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Escalade IQ.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 17 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is rated below average.

Tires and Wheels

The Electrified GV70 AWD Advanced/Prestige’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Escalade IQ’s optional 50 series tires.

Suspension and Handling

The Electrified GV70 Prestige handles at .85 G’s, while the Escalade IQ Sport pulls only .71 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Electrified GV70 Prestige executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.5 seconds quicker than the Escalade IQ Sport (26.3 seconds @ .74 average G’s vs. 27.8 seconds @ .66 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Electrified GV70’s turning circle is 2 feet tighter than the Escalade IQ’s (37.8 feet vs. 39.8 feet). The Electrified GV70’s turning circle is 2.1 feet tighter than the Escalade IQL’s (37.8 feet vs. 39.9 feet).

Chassis

The Genesis Electrified GV70 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 3800 to 3900 pounds less than the Cadillac Escalade IQ.

The Electrified GV70 is 3 feet, 2.7 inches shorter than the Escalade IQ, making the Electrified GV70 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Electrified GV70 is 7.2 inches narrower than the Escalade IQ, making the Electrified GV70 easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The Electrified GV70 is 11.9 inches shorter in height than the Escalade IQ, making the Electrified GV70 much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The design of the Genesis Electrified GV70 amounts to more than styling. The Electrified GV70 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .29 Cd. That is significantly lower than the Escalade IQ (.321) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Electrified GV70 get better fuel mileage.

Cargo Capacity

The Electrified GV70 has a much larger cargo volume than the Escalade IQ with its rear seat up (28.7 vs. 23.6 cubic feet).

Servicing Ease

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the Electrified GV70 to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Cadillac doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Escalade IQ.

Recommendations

The GV70 was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2025 and 2 more times in the last 4 years. The Escalade IQ has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.
