Compare the2026 Genesis G70VS 2025 Cadillac CT5-V

The G70 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The CT5-V doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The G70 has standard whiplash protection, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the whiplash protection system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The CT5-V doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the G70 has standard Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist with automatic braking, systems which detect vehicles approaching from the sides and can automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. The CT5-V Manual doesn't offer automatic rear cross-traffic braking.

Both the G70 and the CT5-V have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

The G70 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The CT5-V’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the G70 4 years and 30,000 miles longer than Cadillac covers the CT5-V. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the CT5-V ends after only 6 years or 70,000 miles.

The G70’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the CT5-V’s (7 vs. 6 years).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the G70 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the CT5-V.

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the engines in the G70 have an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of the 6.2 supercharged V8 in the CT5-V.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the G70 second among compact premium cars in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The CT5-V isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 17 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Genesis 7 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

The G70 3.3T’s standard 3.3 turbo V6 produces 5 more horsepower (365 vs. 360) than the CT5-V’s standard 3.0 turbo V6.

As tested in Motor Trend the G70 3.3T 3.3 turbo V6 is faster than the Cadillac CT5-V turbo V6 (automatics tested):

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Genesis G70 higher (4 to 5 out of 10) than the Cadillac CT5-V (2 to 4). This means the G70 produces up to 20.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the CT5-V every 15,000 miles.

For better stopping power the G70’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the CT5-V:

For better traction and acceleration, the G70 has larger rear tires than the CT5-V (255/35R19 vs. 245/40R19).

The G70’s 255/35R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the CT5-V’s standard 40 series tires.

The G70 has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the CT5-V; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the CT5-V don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

For better maneuverability, the G70’s turning circle is 2.7 feet tighter than the CT5-V’s (36.3 feet vs. 39 feet). The G70 AWD’s turning circle is 4.7 feet tighter than the CT5-V Blackwing’s (37.7 feet vs. 42.4 feet).

The Genesis G70 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 250 to 350 pounds less than the Cadillac CT5-V.

The G70 is 9.4 inches shorter than the CT5-V, making the G70 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the G70 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The CT5-V doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the G70 is quieter than the CT5-V Blackwing:

The G70 has .8 inches more front headroom, .2 inches more front legroom, 2.3 inches more front hip room, 2.1 inches more rear headroom and 1.3 inches more rear hip room than the CT5-V.

If the windows are left open on the G70 the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the CT5-V can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Both the G70 and the CT5-V have standard heated front seats. The G70 Prestige/Sport also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the CT5-V.
